Australia Breaks New Ground as Healy Has One Peak Left to Climb.

It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.
