Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
